▼QUINTET Match 3 / QUINTET Rules
[5-on-5 Match]
●TEAM SAKURABA
vs
〇TEAM RIZIN
The match began with the second-generation Fighting NEXUS featherweight, Takeji Yokoyama, facing the Kyrgyz Judo 81kg champion, Ratbek. Despite Ratbek’s physical advantages, Yokoyama took the bottom position and quickly transitioned to mount, flowing smoothly into a triangle choke. This was securely locked in, leading to an impressive victory for Yokoyama at 1 minute and 8 seconds.
Following Yokoyama’s victory, Naoki Hirata, preparing for a Pancreas title fight, stepped in for an MMA fighter matchup. In this exchange, Hirata circled around Yokoyama, who took the bottom position. After a brief out-of-bounds incident, Yokoyama attempted a triangle choke from below. Despite several attempts to secure a leg lock, Hirata defended well. The back-and-forth continued until Hirata attempted a dare choke, but with no definitive conclusion, both fighters were eliminated.
Next, Shutaro Debana, with a judo background, faced veteran MMA fighter Satoru Kitaoka. They started grappling, but both received warnings. Kitaoka executed a takedown but was met with another warning. Debana attempted to disrupt Kitaoka’s position, but Kitaoka secured top control. After multiple warnings, the third led to disqualifications for both fighters.
In a matchup between Taisei Sakuraba, son of the IQ wrestler Kazushi Sakuraba, and Kazuma Kuramoto, who has a wrestling background, Kuramoto grappled with Sakuraba, who had the physical advantage. Sakuraba attempted an armbar and then a leg lock from the bottom position. Kuramoto avoiding a leg lock, earned applause from the audience. A brief pause occurred when Sakuraba’s leg inadvertently struck Kuramoto in the eye. As they resumed, Kuramoto attempted a takedown but ended up out of bounds, forcing a restart in the center. Sakuraba rolled for a leg lock, and although Kuramoto escaped, Sakuraba continued attacking, transitioning to side control. Ultimately, Kuramoto attempted a north-south choke, leading to a draw and elimination for both.
In the final match, Masato Uchishiba, 2008 Beijing Olympic gold medalist in judo (men’s 66kg), faced Suguru Nii, the 10th generation Featherweight King of Pancreas. If Nii won, RIZIN would clinch victory. Uchishiba initiated an aggressive approach, but both were cautioned for inactivity. Uchishiba landed a throw but went out of bounds, necessitating a restart from the center. The grappling continued without clear offensive actions, leading to another warning. Amid ongoing exchanges, both ended up out of bounds again, resulting in some frustration from the audience. Nii executed a takedown and gained top control but went out of bounds again, causing yet another restart. The match reached the end without a clear victory, eliminating both fighters.
In this elimination-style match, TEAM RIZIN emerged victorious.
