Sumo vs Kickboxing – A Classic Mixed Martial Arts Showdown! Terutsuyoshi vs Yasuhiro Kido
Ganryujima rules / 3 minutes × 3 rounds / Open Weight Class | ||
Terutsuyoshi (SUMO/Japan) | X | Yasuhiro Kido (Kickboxing/Japan) |
Terutsuyoshi (Japan)
I’ve done everything I need to, now it’s just a matter of taking him down! Kido’s kicks are strong, but his punches aren’t much to worry about. I’m going to show him the difference in our strength.
Yasuhiro Kido (Japan)
15 years ago, Mr. Tanikawa offered me a fight with 10 days’ notice. This time, it’s even less than that (laughs). I have no choice but to fight (laughs). As for Terutsuyoshi, he’s way too big (laughs). He’s a proper sumo wrestler, just like Mighty Mo! I’ve never fought a match with such a weight difference before. Is this some kind of punishment game (laughs)? I’ve had 84 pro fights, and I, the seasoned veteran, will show you a replay of the Gao-Glai vs Mighty Mo match (laughs).
Terutsuyoshi (Sumo/Japan)
Date of Birth: January 17, 1995 Height: 169 cm Weight: 107 kg
Highest Rank in Sumo: Maegashira 3
Terutsuyoshi rose to the rank of Maegashira 3 in sumo, using his speed and aggressive forward attacks. Though he retired from sumo in March 2024, his fighting spirit remained strong. At the age of 29, he made his debut in Ganryujima in September of the same year, winning his first martial arts match with a 2nd-round TKO.
Yasuhiro Kido (Kickboxing/Japan)
